Carbon-Adapted Plants

Date

2025.10

This project studies how urban shrubs adapt to pollution. As traffic, dust and heat form a "carbon belt," plants like photinia, holly and privet become "leaf interfaces" facing direct exposure.Through field observation and lab analysis, I see dust buildup, color loss and surface filming. I imagine their future evolution: crystal leaves, breathing films and transparent organs.Using speculative design with posters, 3D prints and video, we ask: in a high carbon future, how will nature change—and what does it mean for us?
